Vilus Incarnatus, the cursed sword

Vilus Incarnatus was a cursed sword used to bury a demonic temple in the earth and lock it in time. Unfortunately, an earthquake released the temple from the ground and Grumph drew the sword, cursing him until the sword's original goal - closing the Broken Prince's portal to the Abyss - was completed, which broke the curse and drained the sword of much of its power, but not its sentience. It contains a portion of the soul of Titivilus, an Archduke of Dis, the second layer of the Nine Hells.

Elements that remain the same in both forms

Vilus Incarnatus has a black leather hilt and a blood red ruby pommel. It contains a fragment of the soul of the archdevil Titivilus. An infernal contract is written upon its silvered blade, compelling any who wield the sword to slay demons in the name of the Second Circle of Hell.

You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.

Sentience. Vilus Incarnatus is a sentient lawful evil magical weapon with an Intelligence of 18, a Wisdom of 16, and a Charisma of 20. It has hearing and darkvision out to a range of 120 feet. The weapon can speak, read, and understand Infernal and Common, and can communicate telepathically to any creature within 60 feet. Its voice is soft and bitter. While you are attuned to it, Vilus Incarnatus also understands every language you know.

Personality. Like its creator Titivilus, Vilus Incarnatus is arrogant, clever and persuasive. It speaks with the authority of one who has mastered infernal law and is always one step ahead of everyone in the room. Titivilus created the sword to aid in the devils’ eternal fight against demons, persuading mortals to do its bidding and tip the scales of the Blood War in his favor.

Proficiency with a longsword allows you to add your proficiency bonus to the attack roll for any attack you make with it.
