Naja Bellandi was the High Watcher of Helm. In 1444 DR, she discovered that the High Rider, Klav Ikaia, had been transformed into a vampire. She managed to flee the High Hall, escape through the Garden, and then dive off the Maiden's Leap into the canal below to escape. This discovery triggered the Night of the Red Coup, in which Ikaia and his vampire spawn swept through the rest of the goverment that hadn't been turned into vampires yet. Bellandi led a guerrilla resistance against them for fourteen days, until her fervent prayer summoned the Companion, which wiped out the vampires.

Bellandi was named the first High Observer of Elturel, but sadly passed away two years later from a fast-progressing wasting disease. Her successor was Cathasach Restat.

The infernal contract revealed that Naja Bellandi was responsible for the pact that initially summoned the Companion -- not from a god at all, but from Avernus, as part of a pact that sent the city to Hell after fifty years.
