Lord Olanthius

The original lord of Elturel -- see Charge of the Hellriders. After the tragic outcome of the original charge, and Zariel's fall, Haruman killed himself rather than serve a devil. Unfortunately, he then discovered that the oath he swore to "crush the armies of the Abyss in Zariel's name" was still binding, and he rose from death as a death knight in her service. He's now a minor noble in her court.

He is duty-bound to protect the Crypt of the Hellriders. However, he has promised that if the party can retrieve the Sword of Zariel -- proving they have a fighting chance of succeeding -- he will help get them aboard Zariel's flying fortress.
